Inner Child

Take my hand

And come with me

To the end of the orchard paths

Overgrown with wildflowers and grass

Where you can feel like a child

Run free, and rest awhile

Safe, with your hand in mine

Down to the river’s edge

Why don’t we go

And try to let go

Of fears and pain

Send them downstream

On tender leaves of green

Never to come back again

Why don’t we sail

Out past the lighthouses

Spinning lights so bright, but

Their guidance not quite right

Instead just me and you

Out into the inky blue

Deep and dark, but I’ll look after you

Let’s watch the snowfall

So you can feel small

Although you don’t have to anymore

Because you’re braver than you know

Bright-eyed little doe

Two steps forward, one step back

We’re becoming a better version of you
